The Excel XL1 series Wound Filter Cartridge , the Screener, have been specifically designed as a general purpose unit that can be used in all industrial applications requiring gross particle removal, clarification or nominal filtration. This string wound filter design provides maximum filtration capacity, economy, and a longer service life due to a controlled diamond pattern that increases the internal density. This technique produces a graded pore structure and tortuous flow passage, subjecting particles to an endless process of impaction and sieving action on the internal media matrix.
The cartridges are manufactured to comply with industry accepted dimensions and are available in both single and double open end configurations. A full range if pore sizes allows optimization to your specific process stream.
Inner polypropylene or metal core for compressive strength and compatibility. Extended cores are available.
Optional inner layer, core wrap, of synthetic material compatible to filter media to prevent downstream migrations of fibers.
Outer filtration layer of natural cotton, bleach cotton, econo polypropylene, FDA polypropylene, fibrillated polypropylene, polyester, fiberglass, or rayon. The fibrillated polypropylene is a non-fiber releasing media.

The Excel XL 1-COSO carbon filter has been specifically designed as a general purpose carbon treatment and sediment removal filter for potable and process water applications. Up to 2,000 gallons of municipal water can be treated for chlorine removal. The filter is of low-density design and can also be utilized as an effective prefiltration for sediment due to its depth type construction. The media composition consists of several layers for maximum filtration capabilities. These layers include finely pulverized carbon for solution purification with synthetic fibers that are pre-selected allowing optimum pore size for high dirt holding capability.
The Excel XL1-CO20 series construction is similar to the Excel XL1-C050, but is modified molded block powdered carbon cartridge having a higher density. This increased density provides a high surface area of carbon with flow paths similar to standard filter media. The cartridge contains more active sites with a lower pressure drop and higher dirt holding capacity than other molded type carbon block filters. The higher surface allows removal of volatile organic chemicals and free chlorine pollutants outperforming typical granular activated carbon filters.
Inner polypropylene core for compressive strength.
Inner layer of synthetic fibers providing a 10 micron nominal final filter that ensures no downstream particulars.
Outer pre-filtration later of finely pulverized activated carbon that has been locked onto synthetic fibers that provides depth filtration and purification in a single solution pass wfthout channeling or media migration.

Outer polyolefin netting for surface integrity and appearance.
Injection molded polyethylene end-caps of low durometer provide positive sealing in all housing types requiring a knife-edge seal.

The Excel XL1 series bag filters are general purpose filters that can be used in all Industrial water filtration applications requiring gross particle removal, clarification or nominal filtration. Utilizing the Excel EFB Series bag filter housings, absolute filtration maybe achieved by the use of a lower micron rated bag, especially in the 1 to 25 micron range. Bag filters provide maximum filtration capacity, economy, and longer life than other filter configurations.
Particulate capture occurs throughout the depth of the bag in the multilayer and coalescing units. The media employed in manufacturing have chemical compatibility with a wide range of chemicals, provide long life and dependability in process applications.
Polypropylene Micro Fibers - Absolute efficiency rating of 98% for rated pore size at 2 through 25 micron ratings. Fiber is melt blown polypropylene and has oil absorbing characteristics.
Felts - Provide depth filtration with higher loading capacity, longer life, and good flow rates. The best cost per gallon filter media.
Multi-filament Mesh-Woven Fabric - Each thread of fabric consists of many smaller diameter threads twisted together. A low cost disposable bag.
Monofilament-Woven fabric with evenly spaced holes - Each thread is a single filament. Excellent strength with no fiber migration possible.

The Excel XLS series spun polypropylene cartridge filters are general purpose units that can be used in all industrial applications requiring gross particle removal, clarification or nominal filtration. Absolute filtration may be achieved by the use of a lower micron rater filter, especially in the 1 to 25 micron range.
Particulate capture occurs throughout the depth of the filter due to an exclusive process that thermally bonds pure polypropylene microfibers with lower density at the outside surface and progressively higher density towards the center.
Thermally bonded meltblown fiber matrix provides dimensional stability.
Fixed pore structure provides optimum particle retention.
Continuous fiber matrix prevents media migration.
Graduated density for longer life.
Superior inter-layer binding eliminates containment, unloading and channeling.
Finish-free construction provides optimum flu id purity and eliminates foaming.

The Excel LR series is a medium lead removal carbon cartridge that utilizes Engelhard's ATS Sorbent. This sorbent is a state of the art ceramic lead removal matrix with the addition of activated carbon (GAG media). The filter matrix bonds led both internally and irreversibly avoiding the possibility of release into the treated water. The inert synthetic zeolite construction of ATS irreversibly locks on to any led in the solution reducing the concentration to below EPA guidelines with very short contact time. The LR works well in hard water, as well as in the presence of both iron and manganese, and is unaffected by varying degrees of pH in the water.
The Excel LR series has been tested by an independent certified laboratory following the test protocol as outlined in NSF Standard #53. Results showed that a standard 9.75 inch LR canridge effectively reduces a 150ppb feed oiled to less than 15ppb lor 4,000 gallons in a low pH, and 3,000 gallons in a high pH when run at a flow rate of 0.75 gallons per minute. The total effectiveness lor lead reduction is at a 99+% level.
Thermoplastic, low durometer rubber gasket to ensure effective sealing.
Injection molded high impact plastic end caps lor durability.
Inner polypropylene core for compressive strength.
Inner layer of synthetic filter media as a final assurance of carbon migration,
Medium density outer led removal media consisting of a blend of highly purified activated carbon, polyolefin resin, and lead sorbent. This layer provides a defective treatment of soluble and insoluble lead.
Outer polyolefin fine mesh netting for surface integrity.
